Grantsburg Fire Association History
The Grantsburg Rural Fire Protection Association was created in 1931 (referenced documents).
In April of 1957 the Grantsburg Rural Fire Protection Association was reorganized. The Association included the Towns of Anderson, Grantsburg, West Marshland, Wood River and parts of the Town of Daniels, and parts of the Town of Trade Lake.
In May of 1957 the Grantsburg Rural Fire Protection Association merged with the Village of Grantsburg creating one Fire Association for the area.
In 1993, the Town of Daniels left the Association after the Association approved purchasing a new fire engine.
In 1997, the Association reorganized as the Grantsburg Fire Association (GFA).
In 2012, the Association's agreement was updated and amended to comply with United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development's funding requirements.
Today, the Grantsburg Fire Association is comprised of the Village of Grantsburg and the Towns of Anderson, Grantsburg, West Marshland, Wood River, and part of Trade Lake.
