Burning of brush and leaves is allowed in the Village of Grantsburg after 6:00 p.m. and not on Sundays. The property owner is responsible to ensure that the fire is completely extinguished at the end of the night.
The property owner assumes all responsibility for burning and may be held liable for suppression costs.
If the ground is completely snow covered burning can take place at any time.

The Co-op Area includes the Town of Grantsburg that is south of State Road 70 and east of Russell Road, the Town of Wood River south of State Road 70, and all of the Town of Trade Lake.
From March 15th to June 1st of each year, outdoor burning is allowed only between the hours of 6:00pm and midnight. The property owner is responsible to ensure that the fire is completely extinguished at the end of the night.

What is the Village Building/Street Number Ordinance?
Sec. 6-2-13 Street Numbers.
(a) Buildings to Have Street Numbers. Each principal building in the Village of Grantsburg shall be
assigned to an official street number by the Village Clerk. All lots and parts of lots in the
Village shall be numbered in accordance with a street numbering map on file in the office of
the Village Clerk. Plats shall be numbered to conform as nearly as possible to the general
scheme of numbering as outlined on the map.
(b) Street Numbers to Be Displayed. The owner, occupant or agent in charge of the premises shall
cause to be affixed and to be maintained when so affixed to each principal building controlled
by him/her the official street number assigned to that building as provided in (a) hereof. The
physical numbers provided herein shall be not less than two and one-half (2-1/2) inches high
on a background of not less than three (3) inches. Each required number shall be affixed on
the particular building in such a location that it may be easily and readily seen by a person
of ordinary eyesight on the public street or highway upon which the building abuts. For
buildings abutting also on a public alley, the street number shall also be affixed in such
location that it may be seen in like manner from such alley.
(c) Noncompliance. If the owner or occupant of any building neglects for twenty (20) days to duly
attach and maintain the proper numbers on the building, the Village shall serve him/her a
notice requiring him/her to properly number the same, and if he/she neglects to do so for
ten (10) days after service, he/she shall be subject to a forfeiture as provided in Section 1-1-6.
(d) Duty of the Owner. Whenever any house, building or structure shall be erected or located in the
Village of Grantsburg after the entire work of establishing a uniform system of house
numbering has been completed, in order to preserve the continuity and uniformity of numbers
of the houses, buildings and structures, it shall be the duty of the owner to secure the correct
number or numbers as designated from the Village Clerk for the said property and to
immediately fasten the said number or numbers so assigned upon said building as provided by
this Section. No building permit shall be issued for any house, building or structure until the
owner has procured from the Inspector the official number of the premises.

What is the County/Town Driveway Ordinance?
Burnett County Sec. 30-482. Driveways and Private Roads
(a) Private roads are described as those serving more than one residential or commercial building. All
private roads serving multiple buildings, constructed after the enactment of the ordinance from which this chapter is derived, shall be a minimum width of two rods.
(b) Driveways are described as serving only one residential or commercial building. All driveways
which serve new residential or commercial buildings that are greater than 75feet from a public
or private road shall meet the following within 60 days of land use/building permit issuance:
(1) Driveways shall have a minimum clearance width of 20 feet. Any curves in driveways must
not be less than 100-foot radius.
(2) Overhead clearance shall be established at a minimum height of 13 feet.
(3) Driveways exceeding 150 feet in length must provide an adequate turnaround area that will
accommodate a 30-foot long fire truck. The turnaround space can be provided by one of the
following methods and shall be within 75 feet of the principal building:
a. If a circle drive is constructed, it must have a radius of no less than 35feet to the
centerline;
b. A turnaround space free of trees and other obstructions may be provided if it has the
dimensions of not less than 60 feet by 50 feet; or
c. A turnout may be provided with the following dimensions: the length shall be
a minimum of 30 feet. The width at the entrance shall also be a minimum of 30 feet.
The turnout may be trapezoidal in shape, thereby tapering down to a minimum of 20 feet at
the rear. In addition, a minimum of 40 feet of driveway must be provided between the
building and the turnout to allow enough room to back a 30-foot long fire truck into
the turnout.
(c) Exemptions from the provisions of this section would include:
(1) New buildings that are 75 feet or less from a public or private road.
(2) Those portions of both private roads and driveways that are restricted by existing easement.
(d) Further, in the interest of public safety and better delivery of emergency services, the county board
encourages and recommends that existing driveways be upgraded to these minimum standards.
